IMPORTANT COVID-19 UPDATE:

My dear friends,
The Covid-19 virus pandemic has truly put our world into a state of panic and it is really causing a lot of pain and damage around the planet.
It's going to get worse before it gets better, and the virus is affecting older people a lot harder than younger people, so we have to be very careful to not accidentally cause harm to our elderly relatives and friends.
European and Asian governments are now working hard on responding responsibly to slow down the spread of the virus to make it more manageable and not lose the health system.
As an artist, I realise that carry a great responsibility with regards to containing transmission of this pandemic. In one tour, I come into touch with thousands of people, even tens of thousands, and it is very important that I don't contribute to further spreading of the virus.
That being said, we have been looking so much forward to coming to play our String Spring tour for you guys. We recorded videos, spent weeks on arrangements and rehearsals, recording and pressing a new EP and lots of love. So many new stories I wanted to tell you and so many people I wanted to hug and laugh with.

But now the reality is that several venues have already been ordered to cancel our concerts. This is a prudent and wise decision and we respect it. We foresee that in the coming days more venues will cancel the concerts.
This reality has forced us to cancel the tour. It is very painful, sad and of course financially devastating both for us and the local promoters, but it is the responsible thing to do. By cancelling the tour, we are doing our share to curtail the spreading of the virus. I have no intention of helping it spread.

So, the decision has been made. I have to cancel my spring tours in Europe, in Germany, Switzerland, Denmark and Sweden. My Norway gigs are still open and we're waiting until we know more about the situation. I have tears in my eyes and I'm very sad, but this is the only right thing to do.

We are already looking into figuring out rescheduling of some of the concerts for october/november. And we hope that it all works out. And I really appreciate all of your understanding.

But most importantly, we hope you all stay safe, healthy and follow the advice of health authorities. I want to see you all again this autumn. Please eat your broccoli!

I love you guys, and I'm so grateful to have such an amazing and loving audience.
Best wishes and love,
your friend,
Svavar Knútur

Tiny update... Long time no see.

Hey guys! I'm really sorry about my lack of blogging for the past 9 months. I've been super busy and working like crazy and I totally forgot to put stuff on my website.
So, basically, this has happened:

I released my new album, Brot (The Breaking) which has done wonderfully, on CD and Vinyl.
A christmas tour in Germany
In January, I did a concert in Mengi with a couple of noise artist friends of mine. They basically electronically processed the signals from my mic and my guitar and totally distorted and electrocuted it. It was a crazy and fun experience and I can't wait to do it again.
A tour of Europe in february.
Theater work in Gütersloh, Germany on a new play by my friend Christian. Wrote and performed music and did some acting. Premiered in May.
Tour of Europe in May.
Toured Iceland in june/July with my friend Kristjana Stefáns, who is just about to release her new album.
Played two concerts with my wonderful friend Marketa Irglova in Czech republic in june.
Played Torp Festival (NO) and Bardentreffen (DE) in July.
Did a short, impromptu tour of Germany, Netherlands and Switzerland in August.

It's been grand! :D I'm so grateful for having the opportunity to participate in all these fun adventures!

Ahead is some more touring of Europe and Canada and some songwriting. Also, a concert with Tina Dico in Copenhagen.

Right now I'm working with the most amazing Reykjavík Melodica team on this years festival, which will take place in August.

Hope to see you guys somewhere along the way in the next year.

Cruising through the U.S.A.

Hey you guys,
I'm currently cruising around the U.S., using Amtrak  as my transportation of choice and just enjoying the heck out of it.
Played some concerts in Vancouver and Seattle last week and at the Club Passim in Cambridge, MA, yesterday. I got to open up for the mighty Steve Poltz. That man is a one man legend! Shit! I'm so humbled right now! He showed me a new dimension on what can be done during an acoustic performance.

It's going great and I'm just super happy.
Just wanted to share that with you guys!

Tomorrow I'm playing in New York at the Rockwood Music Hall, room 3. House opens 9.45.
After that, I head on down to Baltimore and then to Charlottesville, VA for a concert with the coolest of friends, the Anatomy of Frank! YEAH! :D
Then it's back on the Train up to Connecticut to play at the Fire and Ice festival at Infinity Hall in Norfolk.

Loving my life? You betcha!!! :D

See you guys soon :D
And as always:
Check out my music on Spotify or Soundcloud  :D
Love and joy,
Svavar Knútur
